Map has been teaching his nephew, Little Map, how to draw pictures that can help Dora and Boots on their adventures. And he's getting really good, so he's ready for his very first treasure adventure!
Recap
Today is Little Map's first treasure adventure, and he gets excited to explore with Dora and Boots! But they have to go without Map past the town, over the Troll Bridge and atop Garden Mountain to look for lost treasure! First, Little Map draws a picture of the town drawing down everything, including the pond and the big pink house, to help Dora and Boots get through the town where they meet Trolley going down the red road to the exit gate. Next, Little Map drew a complete picture of the Troll Bridge with the playground and the sheep farm. He then erased the hamburger atop the tree's nest, the ladybug on the see-saw, and the fish in the mud puddle. The trio got past Swiper disguised as a tree, and then stopped him from swiping Little Map. Thereafter, the Grumpy Old Troll asks the three to find his five cousins after he played hide and go seek with them but to no avail. Luckily, Little Map's picture saw the green troll sliding down the slide in the playground, the orange and purple trolls petting the sheep at the sheep farm, the pink troll resting at the nest, and the blue troll bathing in the mud puddle. The trolls thanked Dora, Boots, and Little Map for finding them and playing hide and seek. Dora, Boots and Little Map crossed the bridge to get to Garden Mountain. Mr. Troll complemented on Little Map's picture. Backpack gave Little Map a balloon to ride over the clouds so Little Map can draw a perfect picture of the mountain with matching trees and hilltops. They eventually find stickers, gold chocolate coins, and Map himself in the treasure by the carrot field. Little Map shows his uncle his three pictures, and with his uncle's help puts them together and make his first treasure adventure map worthy of a special gold stamp.

Trivia
This is the first time seeing an object's relative other than sibling (which is Map's nephew Little Map).
Dora does not ask, "Who do we ask for help when we don't know which way to go?" before bringing up Map and Little Map in this episode. She immediately asks, "Say, 'Map'".
This episode's elements are similar to a classic Season 1 episode.
The Travel Song being sung.
Finding the location in the exact same path with no other paths in different locations.
Swiper's "Oh, man!" audio clip, last played in Check Up Day.
Swiper not glancing at the camera as he says "Oh, man!"
After the Grumpy Old Troll sings his signature song, he doesn't say "Solve my riddle", he instead says "Find my cousins" due to playing Hide and Go Seek with them as a sequel of the aforementioned episode.
This is the last Dora the Explorer episode in which Dora and Boots sing the Travel Song in full and they only sing it once. They ask "Where are we going?" in English three times and Dora asks it in Spanish once. They may still sing it, or part of it, in later episodes, namely "Dora Rocks!" and "Return to the Rainforest". Also, Little Map says the destination after the third "Where are we going?" instead of the Fiesta Trio.
That also occurred in the Season 5 episode "The Backpack Parade" where Backpack takes the Fiesta Trio's place.
In addition, when Dora and Boots are saying where they are going, they strike poses according to the different places.
This episode reveals how Map's picture map is made.
"We're the Maps" (audio file)
I'm The Map has received some minor changes in the lyrics in this episode, and Map and Little Map say "We're the Maps!"
Technically, it's almost the same lyrics as the full version of "We're the Maps" from the DVD version of Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure with the only known differences being that Little Map takes the place of Future Map and that the future Fiesta Trio are absent in this episode. Also, "What's our names? The Maps! Say it again! The Maps!" is replaced by "What's my name? The Map! What's my name? Little Map!".
Take note that the second "What's my name?" is said by Little Map himself.
The Blue Cursor appears to check to see if Little Map drew everything in all the pictures he made.
In this episode, even after checking Backpack, she doesn't say "We did it!" with Map after Dora sings "¡Lo hicimos!" during the We Did It! song; instead Map and his nephew Little Map say it.
This marks the thirteenth instance in which Swiper targets a character rather than a non-sentient object, giving the manner of kidnapping. The other victims were:
When Little Map flies up in the air, Dora has her pants on and not capris.
Running Gags
Dora asks "Who drew/has a picture that can help us?" and responding with "Little Map!" when asking for Little Map's picture.
That was essentially the same gag as the Season 2 episode "Super Map!" when Dora and Boots ask "Who is this the job for?" when someone needs help and responding "Super Map!" when it's Super Map to the rescue.
